Buccaneers’ Shilo Sanders Kicked Out Of Game For Punching Bills’ Zach Davidson

I’ve never understood the concept of punching somebody who has a helmet on, and I still don’t.

That’s exactly what Shilo Sanders, a rookie safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and son of Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, did Saturday night in a preseason contest taking on the Buffalo Bills. The swing saw Shilo ejected following the referees slapping him with unnecessary roughness.

Playing under his dad at Colorado, Sanders is an undrafted free agent who is currently in competition to make the Bucs’ 53-man roster, or at the very least, the practice squad. Well, unfortunately for him, he put a little toxicity into the situation when he punched Buffalo tight end Zach Davidson, which came after Davidson was blocking him with some pretty strong pushes and shoves. Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Buccaneers, addressed the situation after the game. Tampa Bay lost, 23-19.

“You can’t throw punches in this league — that’s inexcusable,” said Bowles, per ESPN. “They’re going to get you every time. You’ve got to grow from that.”

I was already curious to see what Tampa Bay is going to do with Shilo Sanders, but after this, I’m even more so.

He hasn’t necessarily been elite, and now here he is with this punch, and on top of that, he’s got the “Prime Time” ego that’s become strongly affiliated with the entire Sanders family. You can’t even get full value out of his name.

If I’m the Buccaneers, I’m cutting the guy.
