ROOKE: Say What You Want About Taylor Swift But Her And Travis Kelce Might Have Given Humanity A Chance

After years of singing about toxic relationships, millennial pop star Taylor Swift and her NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, are getting married. Their next move could be a social game-changer.

They could make marriage and children desirable again.

It’s pretty depressing to realize that a marriage and a baby (or babies) from Swift and Kelce could cause a massive baby boom among the younger generations, but I choose to look at this on the positive side. For years, I have worried about my fellow millennial women. The feminist push to put off marriage and children was arguably the most successful with us, which is why the trope of liberal cat ladies became so rampant.

Would I have liked these women to see their loneliness and connect the dots without following Swift’s lead? Yes, of course, but unfortunately, that’s not how the majority of our society works. Celebrity status still moves the masses. So, if the Kelces create a family, it’s more likely than not that it will entice other women of Swift’s age to follow suit. Regardless of the cause, this is a positive development for our country. We are in desperate need of a baby boom if we want to avoid falling into the same death spiral as Japan. Additionally, despite Swift’s generally leftist political views, the majority of the women who admire her work are typical, middle-American women who enjoy listening to music about love. They aren’t rallying for abortions or promoting men in women’s spaces. They work regular corporate jobs and believe that true love is real, but have pushed aside any meaningful way of finding it.

I am eternally confused by her appeal, but that doesn’t really matter because millions of women ages 35 and older around the world look to her as a guiding songbird. And this is an instance where they could benefit from following her lead.

The only way this backfires is if Swift and Kelce do something weird, like announcing that they’ve chosen not to have kids or using surrogacy. Obviously, this would be a horrible end to such a promising societal change. Still, I think the odds are in our favor on this one. It doesn’t really matter what you think of Swift or Kelce. Their past comments can be forgiven if they manage to just be normal for this one thing. They could save thousands of cat ladies from a life of loneliness, and we should all be rooting for this to happen.
