Last week, Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino unveiled a new logo and interior design, telling viewers on Good Morning America that the company had received favorable reactions.

“Honestly, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” Masino said during the appearance.

The redesign removed the company’s signature image of an older man leaning against a barrel, which had long been associated with the brand’s identity.

The changes drew swift criticism from customers who said the new look made the restaurants appear “cold and sterile” compared to the original design, which had been promoted as cozy and welcoming.

The shift coincided with a sharp decline in the company’s market value, which reports indicated amounted to more than $100 million.

Earlier Tuesday, President Trump weighed in on the controversy, writing on Truth Social that the company should restore the original logo and use the moment as a way to strengthen customer loyalty.

“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before. They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again. Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was ‘DEAD.’ Good luck!” Trump posted.

Shortly after, Cracker Barrel released a statement on X confirming it would restore the “Old Timer” logo.

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” the company said.

The company emphasized its commitment to tradition and hospitality in the announcement.

“At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon,” the statement continued.

President Trump followed up with another message on Truth Social applauding the decision.

“Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it. Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!” Trump wrote.

The reversal ends a brief but intense public dispute over one of the restaurant chain’s most visible symbols.

Cracker Barrel, which operates more than 660 locations across the country, has relied on its branding as a cornerstone of its appeal to families and travelers.

The company’s decision to maintain the original logo comes as it seeks to stabilize its image following the backlash and financial decline linked to the redesign.

With the “Old Timer” logo returning, Cracker Barrel stated it intends to focus on delivering the same customer experience that has defined the brand for decades.
