Democrats new ad targets young men with lowest common denominator – beer

Leave it to today’s Democratic Party to rely on the lowest common denominator in targeting young men.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) made a five-figure ad buy for Labor Day weekend focusing on the alleged rising price of beer under the Trump administration, MSNBC reported.

The ads will run on Instagram and YouTube in 35 congressional districts, according to the network. A can of beer is shown in one of the ads, along with the words, “This Labor Day, Republicans are making the price of beer soar.”

“Labor Day is supposed to be a time to celebrate the contributions of the American worker and to relax with neighbors and families over a grill enjoying burgers and beer,” DCCC spokesperson Viet Shelton said in a statement.

“But House Republicans are ruining everyone’s cookouts by making the trip to the grocery store more expensive. The DCCC is going to make sure voters know House Republicans are responsible.”

And MSNBC did its part in carrying the DCCC’s watered-down beer.

“We did our own exercise here, put in some cookout staples in the cart, and the website shows a 14% price increase compared to 2022 for today’s pricing,” host Erielle Reshef said.

Suddenly, those who couldn’t be bothered when Joe Biden brought forth the worst inflation the U.S. had seen since the early 80s is fixated on alleged “soaring” prices. At the same time, the president shared an encouraging message on Truth Social: “Trump’s economy is booming, consumer spending up, inflation low, wages up.”

Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows a bottle of beer indeed has jumped 15 cents in the last three years, from $1.67 to $1.82. Again, 15 cents.

Republican strategist Doug Heye said the beer ads are a “smart tactic,” while suggesting tariffs play a role in prices going up, according to Mediaite.

“And I think it’s smart not just because this is what everybody has been talking about.” he claimed. “So many conversations this weekend will be about what the price was for beef, what the price was for, you know, if you got an imported Corona beer or something like that, that you paid a tariff on, and even back-to-school costs — those are going to be a lot of the conversations that Americans are having throughout the country.”

Trump enjoyed the support of more than half of male voters under the age of 30 in the November 2024 election, after Biden won a similar share up against Trump in 2020.
