David Limbaugh is weighing in on the assassination of Charlie Kirk with a thought-provoking religious take.
The nation watched as a man whose only desire was to debate liberals on the battlefield of ideas was ruthlessly and violently executed in front of a crowd in Utah. The shocking scene prompted outrage, anger, sadness and calls to action, as some shed their humanity to cheer on the murder. But Rush Limbaugh’s brother believes that the moment may also serve a greater purpose: Religious awakening.
Look:
Remember how hopeful many Christians were a few years ago that the Asbury revival would trigger a worldwide great awakening? A noble sentiment. And without diminishing that event, I will say that Charlie’s murder feels dramatically different, like a real awakening is afoot.

“Remember how hopeful many Christians were a few years ago that the Asbury revival would trigger a worldwide great awakening? A noble sentiment. And without diminishing that event, I will say that Charlie’s murder feels dramatically different, like a real awakening is afoot,” he said.
But X users believe that the two events aren’t mutually exclusive. If anything, some say, the two events could very well be “building upon each other” to bring more people, especially young people, into the religious fold.
Many things like Asbury laid the groundwork for God to move. It started opening a door into the hearts of young people. Some plow, some plant, and some reap the harvest.

Perhaps they are building upon each other.

David, I agree. However, IMHO, the leadership at Asbury dropped the ball. Their semester should have been suspended & they should’ve allowed the Spirit to do His work in His time, as long as it took. Instead, they cut it off for the sake of the semester and the revival died

They are building upon each other. Without the Asbury revival and that longing for Christ, Charlie’s death would not have hit as hard.

I’m praying that is true.

For more on the Asbury revival:
Led by students, the impromptu services attracted college students from hundreds of other colleges and universities from around the world. News of the continuous prayer and worship spread around the world and attracted people to Wilmore from as far away as Russia and Japan. Media outlets arrived en masse to cover the spiritual awakening among students with countless reports of healing, salvation, and re-dedications to Christ flooding the news.
