Abortion Supporters Unleash Torrent of Hatred Against 1-Pound Baby Chance – The American Spectator | USA News and PoliticsThe American Spectator

Those of the pro-abortion persuasion routinely spout vile evils celebrating the murder of children. The pro-life side frequently extends them some grace for this, citing the possibility that they could be ignorant of the humanity of the child in the womb.

But there is no possibility of this (supposed) ignorance in the case of baby Chance. The baby is currently being treated in the NICU, a few blocks from where I live in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

Last week, baby Chance was delivered by Cesarean section at Emory University Hospital. He weighed 1 lb., 13 oz. After his beautiful mother, Adriana Smith, was declared brain dead in February, he continued to develop inside her womb while she was kept on life support.

Chance’s family told the media that he is expected to be OK and asked for prayers. “He’s just fighting,” said his grandma. “We just want prayers for him. Just keep praying for him. He’s here now.”

Chance’s story became national news after his family told the media that they were unhappy with the hospital’s determination that Adriana must be kept on life support until Chance’s birth due to Georgia’s law banning abortions once a child has a heartbeat. In the immediate aftermath of the family’s interview, abortion supporters went bonkers. One writer for New York magazine, Andrea González-Ramírez, went so far as to call Adriana Smith’s “story” — that is, the survival of her baby after she was declared brain dead — “monstrous.” The headline of that piece read, “We’re Just Human Incubators to Them.” (READ MORE: A Miracle Baby Is Surviving His Mother’s Brain Death, and the Left Is Outraged)

One would have thought that once baby Chance was born and was lying in an (actual) incubator in a NICU, such disgustingly evil talk would cease. Usually, once a baby has a birth certificate and a Social Security number, pro-abortionists are content to admit that a child has a right to life.

Well, no. Since news of Chance’s birth broke earlier this week, many abortion supporters have responded by wishing for the little baby’s death. The amount of traction this opinion has gotten online is truly sickening. (RELATED: The Messed-Up World of People Who Believe Abortion Is Love)

In an X post that received over 6,000 reposts, @ra3lic wrote, “I might be a monster for saying this, but I don’t want that child to live. Because if it grows to live and have a decent life, then we as women are doomed to never escape the role of an incubator. Adriana Smith was an experiment of a country that hates its women.”

Pro-abortion activists love to perform this strange verbal trick with the word “incubator.” They use it to claim that any woman who does not want to be pregnant — or, in the case of Adriana Smith, is not consciously consenting to her pregnancy — has somehow been forced to become a machine for the patriarchy. This is grounded, at base, on the belief that pregnancy is an unnatural and disgusting burden unfairly faced by women. Thus, as with one voice, pro-abortion activists have responded to Adriana Smith’s pregnancy and the birth of her baby by fretting and screaming that this unique ability turns women into “incubators.”

Of course, abortion activists are the ones who are really casting women as machines. Pro-lifers, on the other hand, uphold pregnancy as supernaturally beautiful. Within a woman, there comes into being a new human life who then, in total reliance upon his mother, develops and grows within her. “Pregnancy is natural and amazing,” said pro-life activist Lila Rose. “We have a superpower as women to bring new lives into the world. The female body can uniquely do this. Be proud of it.”

These women who believe that pregnancy turns them into incubators — machines — are, in fact, disgusted with themselves.

Pro-abortion activists are so upset over Chance’s birth because he is living proof that a baby is not an entity that comes into existence upon exiting his mother’s womb but is, rather, a separate human person who must be cared for and protected from conception.

They wish for his death because then he will cease to be a symbol of what pregnancy actually entails: one person inside another, a woman giving life to her child until he is ready to be born.

“I still hope the baby doesn’t survive more than a day or two,” said @DobuitaShenmue, to the tune of 1,700 reposts. “People are seriously not understanding the precedent across the country that will happen if the baby survives. It really is the absolute WORST thing that can happen.”

These X posts are just the beginning of the hatred from the pro-abortion side.

One person received 20,000 reposts for saying, in reference to Chance’s birth, “If you voted for him and THIS just stay tf away from me. We can’t be friends.”

To the tune of 21,000 reposts, @JessPected said, “I keep seeing Adriana Smith ‘gave birth.’ She didn’t ‘give birth,’ a fetus was cut from a corpse. She & her family were denied any dignity in her death. She was dehumanized, designated an incubator, & desecrated. By the very system that killed her.”

Note that all this woman can muster with regard to baby Chance is to call him a “fetus.” And that all she can say with regard to Adriana Smith is that she is an “incubator” and a “corpse.”

We’re living in a nightmare. Not the “nightmare” abortion activists see — of a country where women can get pregnant and can be prohibited by law from aborting the unborn baby — but a nightmare in which women, from whom all new life is born, have turned against this capacity, finding it oppressive to the extent that they are filled with bloodlust against little babies. A mother’s love has been replaced with raging hatred.
