Actor Josh Hartnett, known for his role in Oppenheimer, was hospitalized last week following a collision with a police vehicle in Newfoundland, Canada, as reported by Breitbart.
According to local authorities, the incident occurred in St. John’s just before 1 a.m. last Thursday. Hartnett was a passenger in an SUV that struck a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue.

Police confirmed that both vehicles were “significantly damaged” in the crash. Hartnett and a 59-year-old man who was also inside the SUV were taken to a hospital. Both were treated for minor injuries and discharged on Monday.
The RNC officer involved was transported to a hospital “as a precaution,” police said.

In a press release, the RNC asked the public for assistance in determining the circumstances of the collision.
“RNC collision analysts are seeking any witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to, or immediately following the collision,” the department stated. Officials have not confirmed whether either driver was at fault or if the crash was a simple accident.
A representative for Hartnett told the New York Post that the actor has since resumed filming after being released from the hospital.
Hartnett has been in Newfoundland shooting a Netflix series alongside Charlie Heaton, best known for Stranger Things, and Mackenzie Davis, star of Terminator: Dark Fate.

The Minnesota-born actor rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with major roles in Halloween H20, The Faculty, and Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down.
In recent years, Hartnett has returned to prominence, notably for his performance as physicist Ernest Lawrence in Christopher Nolan’s Academy Award-winning 2023 film Oppenheimer.
His work has been cited as part of a broader wave of high-profile Hollywood comebacks that also included Brendan Fraser in The Whale and Ke Huy Quan in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Authorities in Newfoundland continue to investigate the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
