Actor-Turned-Driver Frankie Muniz Steps Back From Race After Suffering Injury In Freak Accident

Frankie Muniz said he is stepping away from NASCAR for several weeks after breaking his wrist in a freak fall at home.

The former “Malcom in the Middle” star announced the setback in an X post Thursday, joking that “the phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these.” He told fans he will miss this weekend’s Darlington race and other upcoming competitions while he recovers from a distal radius fracture. “Yesterday, I fell from the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in my backyard,” Muniz wrote. “Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, ‘Do not sit or stand on top step.’”

“In hindsight, a taller ladder would’ve been smarter,” he quipped.

The actor-turned-driver called the injury a major setback but said he was thankful it wasn’t more serious.

“While I’m gutted to miss the races, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. I feel for my team, who’ve poured their hearts into this season, and I’m thankful for @FordPerformance and their unwavering support,” Muniz wrote.
