Actress Charithra Chandran Demands Ceasefire In Gaza — Well After A Ceasefire Was Already Declared

“One Piece” actress Charithra Chandran is being roasted for demanding political change before getting her facts straight.

The actress made an impassioned plea for a ceasefire in Gaza — seemingly completely unaware that she was asking for something that has already been officially declared for nearly half a year. Chandran delivered her pro-Palestine statement to the press on Sunday’s Oscars red carpet.

“This is an artists for ceasefire pin, and what we are demanding is a ceasefire in Gaza,” she told the press.

She continued asserting her plea by saying, “I think that I am so blessed to have a platform and this is the least I can do to use it, and like, sometimes, the news cycle is so fast, and people move on, but the people in Gaza and the West Bank are still suffering.”

Political analyst Guy Benson chimed in on X, writing, “They know so little & live in privileged, ignorant bubbles…and should be treated accordingly.”

Oli London also took to social media to say, “‘One Piece’ actress Charithra Chandran demands ceasefire in Gaza- despite a ceasefire for the past 6 months.”

Internet users chimed in to say, “Celebrities need to STFU,” and sharing multiple memes about how disconnected Hollywood stars really are. (RELATED: ‘Shut The F*ck Up!’: Gene Simmons Says Celebrities Have No Business Talking About Politics)

One person wrote, “With no one telling them what to say, they are like a rudderless ship. Just flopping around in a very large sea,” and another mocked the disconnected star by saying, “Alternate realities can be confusing.”

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza formally took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, according to NPR. This followed President Donald Trump announcing that the warring parties had both accepted the first phase of a peace plan on Oct. 8. However, fighting has repeatedly broken out in Gaza in the months since.
