Police leaders in New York City and the nation’s capital said they are ramping up security at locations across the two cities in the wake of U.S. airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities Saturday.
The New York Police Department said it is monitoring any potential fallout from the attacks.
“We’re tracking the situation unfolding in Iran. Out of an abundance of caution, we’re deploying additional resources to religious, cultural and diplomatic sites across NYC and coordinating with our federal partners,” the NYPD said on X. “We’ll continue to monitor for any potential impact to NYC.”
Metropolitan Police also said more officers are being stationed near houses of worship in the District following the military strikes.
“We are actively coordinating with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to share information and monitor intelligence in order to help safeguard residents, businesses, and visitors in the District of Columbia,” MPD said on X.
The department said there are no known threats to the city.
President Trump announced that the U.S. carried out airstrikes targeting key Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. Those American attacks came after a week of intense Israeli bombing of Iranian nuclear and military targets across the country.
