Only days prior to the beginning of the NCAA March Madness Tournament, the Alabama Crimson Tide are being dished out a legal headache that involves one of their star players.
Aden Holloway, a guard for the Crimson Tide, was placed under arrest Monday for a possession of marijuana charge, according to Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Taylor who informed the New York Post of the information. Per the spokesperson, over a pound of marijuana was found, along with paraphernalia and money, following West Alabama Narcotics Task Force agents searching his residence Monday morning.
The 21-year-old Holloway was placed under arrest and hit with charges of first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. At 9:48 a.m. local time Monday, he was taken to Tuscaloosa County jail, later being released around an hour later at 10:45 a.m on a $5,000 bond.

At this time, it’s not clear if Alabama will hand down discipline to Holloway prior to their first round game Friday against Hofstra in the NCAA March Madness Tournament, which takes place in Tampa, Florida.
In the 2025-26 season, Holloway was a major part of the Crimson Tide’s success, scoring an average of 16.8 points-per-game to put him as the second-leading scorer of the team.
