‘All Glory To My Lord And Savior, Jesus Christ’: High Point’s Chase Johnston Gives Iconic Postgame Speech After Upset

Need some hopium for future generations? … Watch this.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of High Point University before Thursday, but growing up just 30 minutes from the school, I know a lot about it, particularly on the sports side of things. The men’s basketball team put on one hell of a performance in the first round of March Madness, that in itself was special, but it hit extra hard for me.

The Panthers, who came into the tournament as a No. 12 seed, pulled off a massive upset over No. 5 Wisconsin in a 83-82 thriller. Taking place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, it was the first-ever March Madness win for HPU. And to make it even crazier, it snapped a 0-58 losing streak against opponents in Power Four conferences. But instead of getting straight to the party, Panthers guard Chase Johnston made sure to deliver all the glory to Jesus Christ, doing so in a legendary postgame interview.

“First and foremost, I wanna give all glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” said Johnston. “We’re a group of guys built on John 15:13. We serve each other. We love each other. We’d die for each other.”

You can watch the footage of Johnston’s comments here.

I’m so proud of these boys, and with Chase Johnston, it’s so refreshing to hear the praise for our Lord and Savior in these times, especially from a college kid.

Maybe there’s some hope for the future after all.
