American Liberals Schooled on Real Oppression [WATCH]

Commentator Britt Hughes spoke about the situation involving members of the Iranian women’s soccer team who refused to sing their national anthem during the Asian Cup in Australia, describing the consequences the players faced and the response from governments following the incident.

Hughes referenced the team’s decision not to sing the anthem, noting that the action carried severe legal risks in Iran. She said the refusal was immediately met with condemnation from Iranian state media.

“To all the American leftists who think they’re living under fascism, listen up. Do you remember the Iranian women’s soccer team that refused to sing their own national anthem during the Asian Cup in Australia?” Hughes said.

She said the act could bring severe punishment under Iranian law.

“These guys, that’s an act that’s punishable by death in Iran. And these women were immediately labeled traitors by Iranian state media.”

According to Hughes, the Australian government later offered asylum to members of the team following the controversy.

“So Australia offered them asylum after President Trump called and asked them to you know, woman hater that he is.”

Hughes said several members of the team accepted the offer.

“So seven of these women took the offer to remain in Australia.”

However, she said the situation changed when one of the players contacted Iranian officials about returning home.

“But the Australian government just had to move six of them to a new safe house after one of them contacted the Iranian consulate and said she had changed her mind and wanted to go back home.”

Hughes said speculation surrounding the player’s decision suggested it may have been connected to threats involving family members.

“The speculation is that she’s being forced to return due to threats to her family.”

Hughes then contrasted the circumstances faced by the players with debates in the United States about political rhetoric and government actions.

“By the way, American ladies, this is what actual oppression looks like.”

She described the consequences she believes individuals face in Iran for defying state authority or social rules.

“It’s not detaining criminal aliens who are in our country violating our laws. It’s not making sure that adults can’t mutilate gender confused 11 year olds.”

“It’s when you’re forced to sing the national anthem, and when you don’t, the government tries to kill you, so you have to flee to another country.”

Hughes said the consequences can extend to family members and personal conduct as well.

“And then the government threatens to kill your family, and then you show your hair, and now you really, really can’t go back home, because they’ll imprison you or stone you to death.”

She argued that people in the United States often lack firsthand experience with such conditions.

“But see, you have no place in your brains to put that because you’ve never experienced anything like this.”

Hughes said she believes political disagreements in the United States are sometimes described as oppression even when they differ significantly from conditions in other countries.

“You think that oppression is when a president says something that you don’t like, or when the guy you didn’t vote for gets elected to office.”

She also criticized demonstrations that she said support governments or groups associated with the Iranian regime.

“So you will parade through the streets in support of evil regimes like the Ayatollah and Hamas, because you don’t understand what they do to people, and you just think Orange Man bad.”

Hughes concluded by saying the actions taken by the Iranian players have drawn international attention to conditions in their country.

“But these Iranian women are currently teaching a class on oppression in front of the entire world. So sit down, shut your privileged pie hole and pay attention.”
