Argentine President Who Just Got $20 Billion Trump Bailout Holds Massive Rock Concert For Book Launch

Argentine President Javier Milei stood center stage under the arena lights Monday night, not to unveil a new economic rescue plan for his crisis-ridden country, but to front a rock band and promote his new book.

The massive concert took place just days after President Donald Trump backed a $20 billion bailout for Argentina. Inside the packed 15,000-seat Movistar Arena, Milei transformed what was billed as a book launch into a full-blown musical spectacle, performing covers of Charly García and Nino Bravo while weaving in a tribute to Israel and a call to remember the victims of the Oct. 7 massacre.

The event, broadcast live on state TV, doubled as a campaign rally ahead of the Oct. 26 midterm elections and a symbolic reaffirmation of Milei’s ideological brand: anti-establishment, pro-Israel, and unapologetically theatrical. The concert capped a whirlwind stretch for Milei.

The show marked the debut of his latest book, La construcción del milagro (The Construction of the Miracle), a 600-page manifesto that blends economic essays with speeches advocating sweeping free-market reforms. As a nod to his personal faith and foreign policy agenda, Milei opened the night with a tribute to Israel — leading the crowd in “Hava Nagila.”

The Argentine government just secured a $20 billion financial assistance package that the Trump administration greenlit, a lifeline for Argentina’s battered economy as inflation surges and dollar reserves plunge. Milei is scheduled to meet Trump in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 14 to discuss the terms of the bailout and deepen ties between their administrations. Milei has maintained a warm relationship with the Trump administration, attending Trump’s inauguration in January 2025 after publicly echoing his slogan and backing his return to office. Months later, Milei appeared to follow Trump’s lead again by launching a sweeping immigration crackdown in Argentina.
