Assaults on ICE Surge 500% as Democrats Target Agents, Shield Illegal Aliens [WATCH]

The information, released exclusively to Breitbart News, highlights the growing risks ICE officers face amid intensifying rhetoric from elected officials and direct interference with law enforcement actions.

“Today, the Department of Homeland Security released new data revealing that ICE law enforcement is now facing a 500% increase in assaults while carrying out enforcement operations,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to Breitbart.

McLaughlin cited a recent case in Bloomington, Minnesota, involving the arrest of Roberto Carlos Munoz, an illegal alien and convicted child sex offender.

According to DHS, Munoz dragged an ICE officer approximately 50 yards with his vehicle while attempting to flee from arrest.

“Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender,” McLaughlin said.

“Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.”

In addition to increased physical assaults, DHS officials say ICE agents are also contending with inflammatory rhetoric from prominent Democratic politicians.

McLaughlin pointed to comments made by several elected officials, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, as contributing factors to the rising hostility.

McLaughlin highlighted past comments by Wu and Walz, who have compared ICE agents to Nazis, and noted Jeffries’ warning that he would seek to expose ICE officers’ identities.

“Every single ICE agent who is engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that … every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes will of course be identified,” Jeffries said.

McLaughlin said such statements are emboldening acts of aggression toward ICE personnel.

“Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE,” she stated.

“From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is despicable. This violence against ICE must end,” McLaughlin said.

Legal actions have recently been taken against public officials accused of obstructing ICE operations.

Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver of New Jersey was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly impeding and interfering with ICE officers attempting to detain an illegal alien at Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has not ruled out possible charges against New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, a Democrat and declared mayoral candidate.

Lander allegedly assaulted an ICE agent and interfered with an arrest involving an illegal alien. Federal authorities are reportedly reviewing the incident.

The DHS report comes as ICE continues its enforcement activities under renewed direction from the Trump administration, which has prioritized cracking down on illegal immigration and restoring full operational authority to federal immigration officers.
