Authorities in California have arrested a couple accused of murdering their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro, after initially claiming he was kidnapped.
Over the weekend, the baby’s father was filmed assisting law enforcement in a search for the infant’s remains, as reported by The New York Post.
His wife, Rebecca Haro, 41, had initially claimed that her son was kidnapped by someone who assaulted her outside a sporting goods store on Aug. 14.

Haro and his wife, 41-year-old Rebecca Haro, were arrested Friday at their home in Cabazon. Both are facing charges of murdering their infant son. The arrests came after investigators determined that Rebecca Haro’s account of a kidnapping earlier this month was fabricated.
On August 14, Rebecca Haro told police that she had been attacked outside a sporting goods store in Yucaipa and that Emmanuel had been abducted during the incident.
She said she was knocked unconscious and awoke to find her child missing. The couple then publicly pleaded for help locating their son.

However, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced last week that there were “inconsistencies” in Rebecca Haro’s story. Investigators concluded that the alleged kidnapping never occurred.
“It is believed Emmanuel is deceased, and the search to recover his remains is ongoing,” the department said in a statement.
The arrests were carried out Friday in a raid on the Haros’ desert home. Video footage shows both suspects appearing disheveled as deputies took them into custody. They were escorted separately into police vehicles.

Authorities have not disclosed the evidence that led to the murder charges. Both parents remain in custody as investigators continue efforts to locate the baby’s body.
The case has drawn widespread attention due to the disturbing shift from an initial abduction alert to accusations of murder against the parents. The search for Emmanuel’s remains is ongoing in areas across Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
