U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders offered “no apologies” when confronted by Fox News host Bret Baier over his use of private jets.
The Independent Vermont senator was asked about the more than $200,000 in private flights he has reportedly spent while trotting around the nation with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.
“When’s the last time you saw Donald Trump during a campaign mode at National Airport?” Sanders asked when Baier brought up criticism of the lawmaker’s private jet use during the “Special Report” interview.
“No, no, no. It doesn’t. But he’s also not fighting the oligarchy,” Baier pointed out.
“You run a campaign and you do three or four five rallies in a week, the only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people,” Sanders said.
“You think I’m going to be sitting on a waiting line at United while, what, thirty thousand people are waiting around. It’s the only way you can get around. No apologies for that. That’s what campaign travel is about,” the socialist declared. “We’ve done it in the past. We’re gonna do it in the future.”
Sanders’ campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spent over $221,000 chartering private jets during the first quarter of 2025, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings reviewed by Fox News Digital. The filing, which was released last month, shows that Sanders dropped the massive haul between three private jet companies: Ventura Jets, Cirrus Aviation Services, and N-Jet,” Fox News reported.
“Some of these flights included Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez’s chartered private jet worth up to a staggering $15,000 an hour for several West Coast stops on their ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ tour,” the outlet noted.
Sanders was also asked about the rallies and whether they are just serving as an outlet for those unhappy with the current Trump administration.
“I think at a time when the people on top are doing phenomenally, when seniors, working-class people are struggling, people want to hear action to stand up to the people who have the wealth and the power and create an economy that works for all of us, not just the people on top,” the senator told Baier.
The senator’s hypocrisy was blasted on social media.
