Joe Biden publicly claims that world leaders are calling and asking him to get “engaged.” The addled geezer believes he’s still super important and necessary on the world stage.
If Biden hadn’t actually said it, people would believe it was a TV parody mocking the last administration.
If nothing else, he’ll gain sympathy from folks who feel he may be suffering as the brunt of practical jokes by members of his former staff or wife, Jill, and son, Hunter, who are placing prank calls or attempting to stoke his self-esteem.
He’s becoming the stereotypical image of the cartoon of the goofy guy in the nursing home with his right hand stuck in his terrycloth robe and a tissue box on his head claiming he’s Napoleon.
Biden was invited by the HR trade group Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) on Wednesday, June 2, to its gathering in San Diego. He spoke for more than an hour. And they paid him.
This crowd is in desperate need of a veteran event planner, as it’s obvious the experience of the one they currently employ doesn’t extend beyond organizing elementary kids’ backyard birthday parties. Did they pick up Biden in the guest speaker’s “clearance bin” at Walmart?
Who are these “world leaders” he says are asking him to “get engaged”? If there are one or two, an educated guess is that they include Bashar al-Assad, formerly of Syria, who’s calling from Moscow, these days, and maybe the battered and bruised remnants of Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah longing for the “good ‘ole days.”
In response to their pleas to get “involved,” Biden said he told them: “I’m not, but I’m giving advice.”
No wonder Human Resource groups are the target of so many corporate jokes and have such dismal reputations They pay to hear advice from a guy who is considered one of the greatest failures in the history of American politics.
News reports say Biden spoke to them about the risks of the U.S.’s move toward isolationism and the dangers of abandoning his administration’s efforts to strengthen the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance. In just one day President Trump convinced the stingy NATO crowd to up their ante to its required 5% from the measly 2% it was contributing under Biden.
“We strengthened NATO in a significant way,” Biden told the audience. Really? This is the guy who G7 leaders had to physically lead back to their meeting when he wandered off glassy-eyed and aimlessly towards a group of paratroopers packing their gear instead of huddling with his peers.
“You know, I often ask the question if America doesn’t lead the world, who can? Not a joke,” he told the HR crowd. What is a joke is that they paid to hear him say that.
It’s a strange and bizarre world this sad befuddled old man lives in. He is in need of a professional caretaker, one that will prevent him from making any future public appearances that will further humiliate him.
If nothing else the dignity, prestige, and reputation of the American presidency is at stake.
