Former President Joe Biden’s secretary of state didn’t get far in trying to take credit for the Gaza peace deal.
Antony Blinken took to social media with claims that at least one part of the Gaza peace deal should be credited to his former boss’s administration in a long thread that also contained praise for President Donald Trump’s efforts.

“It starts with a clear and comprehensive post-conflict plan for Gaza. It’s good that President Trump adopted and built on the plan the Biden Administration developed after months of discussion with Arab partners, Israel and the Palestinian Authority,” he wrote. “It centers on temporary, transitional authorities for Gaza’s governance, security, humanitarian assistance, and rebuilding, led by Arab and international partners alongside Palestinians, backed by the United States, and ultimately handed over to full Palestinian control.”
Trump was asked about this on board Air Force One, where he called it a “joke.”
Watch:
.@POTUS: “Everybody knows that’s a joke. They did such a bad job. This should’ve never happened… Everything they did was the opposite of what you should’ve done.” https://t.co/NAJbjDO9qf pic.twitter.com/m27U4btgZf

“Everybody knows that’s a joke. They did such a bad job. This should’ve never happened. This wouldn’t have even happened- this was weak leadership. And the same thing with Russia, Russia-Ukraine. If just a decent president – not a great president like me – if a decent president was in, you wouldn’t have had Russia-Ukraine,” Trump said, later adding that “Everything they did was the opposite of what you should’ve done.”
“It’s nice that they try to take a little credit. That was years ago and the mistakes were made years ago, by both Biden and Obama.”
New York Post‘s Miranda Devine called Blinken an “inept failure” in her own post on the statement.
How pathetic, from this inept failure as Secretary of State, who only got the job because he sucked up to Joe Biden for years and did favors for his crackhead son.

“How pathetic, from this inept failure as Secretary of State, who only got the job because he sucked up to Joe Biden for years and did favors for his crackhead son,” she wrote. “This is the ineffectual toady who sat mute as Chinese officials yelled at him and disrespected America, who covered up his boss’s obvious cognitive decline, who simped with Europeans in the hope they would accept him as one of them, who presided over the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, who helped his boss make every conflict in the world worse, who installed his childhood friend from their Parisian school, Robert Malley, as ‘Iran special envoy’ only to see the guy stripped of his security clearance, suspended, and investigated for ‘mishandling’ classified information — a mystery which still has not been explained. So, sure, try to take credit for what Trump achieved in eight months after your four years of humiliation on the world stage. No one buys it.”
