‘Big Effect On Democrats’: Matt Towery Predicts Mamdani May Force Pollsters To Forever Change How They Gather Data

Matt Towery predicted on Fox News Monday that the rise of political figures like socialist Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani could fundamentally alter the way pollsters assess American voters and the Democratic Party.

Mamdani secured the Democratic mayoral primary in June, with some Democrats voicing support for the socialist nominee, while others have yet to offer official endorsements. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Towery warned that political egotism could ultimately undermine New York City’s stability and argued that the rise of figures like Mamdani is pushing the Democratic Party toward a significant shift, one that will force pollsters to rethink how they categorize candidates in future elections.

“I do want to say one thing about Mandani, and that is this. I keep saying this is going to force the Democrats down the road,” Towery told host Laura Ingraham. “And pollsters, when we poll in future cycles down the road, we won’t just say Democrat next to a name. In a lot of states, in a lot of instances, it will say Democrat slash Democrat Socialist. Because unlike MAGA, which, by the way, is a slogan and an aspiration, it’s not a party.”

Towery said Democratic Socialism is evolving into a distinct political party within the broader Democratic Party.

“Democrat Socialist is in essence a party. And I believe the Democrats, and this is certainly not Dan and the centrists and the people trying to save his party, they’re being forced over by the embracing of this guy. And the fact that more of these are spilling out in other blue cities and states just in various places, not at one time, but it will spill out,” Towery said. “That I think you’re going to see a merger of the two or a big-time splinter, that’s going to have a big effect on the Democrats either way.”

Towery was asked about whether any people on Earth support both Mamdani and President Donald Trump. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Dems ‘Learned Nothing’ By Nominating ‘Comrade Mamdani,’ Mike Johnson Says)

“There may be a few. I don’t know where in the world that’s coming from. That’s just nuts. But you’ve got three political egos stuck in the race right now running against him, and none of them will get out. And that’s just going to split the vote up,” Towery said. “So political egotism may be the thing that takes down New York City in the end.”

After Mamdani’s win, both Republicans and Democrats voiced concerns that captured the media spotlight. His policy proposals, such as raising taxes on “richer and whiter” neighborhoods and his past refusal to denounce the phrase “globalize the intifada” have sparked criticism from some lawmakers.

Despite concerns over Mamdani’s potential impact on the city, former Democrat New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman praised him on June 28, calling him the party’s future and arguing that the term socialism has been “weaponized” into an “anti-American” slur.

However, others in the party, including Democrat Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, have pushed back, saying Mamdani isn’t “even really a Democrat” and that he disagrees with “virtually” all aspects of his platform.
