Bills’ Khalil Shakir Saves More Than 19 Dogs From Euthanasia Over Labor Day Weekend

I’m a Dolphins fan … it’s a sin to like the Bills … but I love animals so much that I can’t help but to like Khalil Shakir.

The wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills has become the go-to target for quarterback Josh Allen, but not just that, but he’s making one hell of an impact in the community when it comes to rescuing animals.

During the Labor Day holiday weekend, Shakir worked with shelters in the Buffalo area to help rescue an incredible amount of dogs from euthanasia — more than 19 total.

In one glorious swoop, Shakir helped welcome the furry friends who were transported by Nickel City Canine Rescue to Buffalo after being saved from high-kill shelters in the southern portion of the United States.

Taking place Saturday, the Shakir Family Pet Adoption Event was at Amherst’s Northtown Toyota. (RELATED: Panthers’ Hunter Renfrow Nearly Lost Dream Chance To Be In NFL Thanks To ‘Bluey’ Cartoon)

Multiple rescues in the area showed up to the event, including Nickel City Canine Rescue, Buddy’s Second Chance and Awesome Paws Rescue, who hooked up with Western New York families interested in adopting.

The fantastic work from Shakir gave the dogs a home, saving them from euthanasia.

Ever since getting hit by Hurricane Idalia back in 2023, I’ve wanted to launch some kind of charity for hurricane victims. This story from Khalil Shakir adds a little bit of fuel to that.

Once I build my brand, maybe.
