Authorities in Arizona say blood and signs of forced entry were discovered inside the home of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, prompting investigators to pursue what they describe as a possible kidnapping or abduction, as reported by The New York Post.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of the Today show co-host, was reported missing Sunday in the Catalina Hills area of Pima County, Arizona.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that blood was found inside the residence along with evidence of a struggle, though it has not yet been confirmed whose blood was located at the scene.

“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly [in the] middle of the night,” Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Kevin Adger confirmed to a Los Angeles-based outlet.
“Detectives are looking into a possible kidnapping or abduction.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen after returning home from dinner Saturday night. According to investigators, she was reported missing around noon Sunday after failing to appear at a scheduled church service.
Authorities say her vehicle and cellphone were left behind at the home, details that have raised further concern among investigators.
Law enforcement officials told ABC News they are reviewing data from Guthrie’s cellphone in hopes of narrowing down a timeline and determining when she may have been taken.
DNA evidence collected at the scene is also being examined, according to local station KVOA.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos issued a direct appeal to anyone who may be involved or have information about Guthrie’s disappearance.
“Just call us. Let her go. Just call us. The family will tell you, there’s no questions asked here,” Nanos told NBC News.
“We don’t need another bad, tragic ending.”
Authorities have announced a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect and are urging the public to come forward with any images, video footage, or details that could assist in the investigation.
Investigators say the case is especially urgent due to Guthrie’s medical condition. According to law enforcement, she cannot walk more than 50 yards on her own and relies on life-saving medication.
Officials warned that going without that medication for more than 24 hours could prove fatal.
“The hunt is a race against time because the missing woman needs medication,” police said, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Sheriff Nanos said the department is using every available resource to locate her.
“We’re doing all we can to try to locate her,” Nanos said. “Every tool we have, we will use.”
Savannah Guthrie has publicly referred to her mother as her “best friend” and has asked for prayers as the search continues.
Investigators remain focused on the possibility that Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home while sleeping, a scenario police say is consistent with the evidence found at the scene.
Authorities continue to canvass the area and follow up on tips as the investigation remains active.
