‘Bodega brothel’ near schools in AOC’s red-light district finally shut down WITHOUT her help

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had plenty of time and motivation to jet around the country with fellow socialist Bernie Sanders, but AOC was nowhere to be seen when police finally shut down a local brothel near two schools in her district.

The NYPD shut down the well-known local brothel in the Democratic lawmaker’s red-light district after months of advocacy by local leaders, according to Fox News.

“Nicknamed the ‘bodega brothel’ by locals, the establishment was operating on the second floor of a local bodega just off the Roosevelt Avenue strip in Queens, where prostitutes are known for openly soliciting sex on sidewalks,” the network reported, citing local Democratic leader Hiram Monserrate.

School kids on their way to and from class had to walk past the brothel as sex workers outside.

“The shutting down of the ‘bodega brothel’ was long overdue, but it finally got done,” said Monserrate. “This place is clearly unsightly and unsanitary, and, quite frankly, disgusting.”

The former Democratic state senator and council member told Fox News he organized four separate rallies to close down the brothel and turned to Ocasio-Cortez and other elected officials to help.

“AOC did not play a role at all,” Monserrate said.

When contacted by Fox News, AOC’s office said it would not be commenting on the closure.

Of course, Ocasio-Cortez made clear her thoughts on prostitution when she advocated for hookers to receive stimulus checks during the Great Pandemic of 2020.

“Sex work is work,” she posted on X. “The federal gov has done almost nothing to help people in months. We must pass stimulus checks, UI, small biz relief, hospital funding, etc. Keep the focus of shame there, not on marginalizing people surviving a pandemic without help.”

Voters in her district reelected Ocasio-Cortez with 68.9% of the vote in 2024 and will likely do so again in 2026, so it’s hard to have sympathy for them, as one sopcial media user noted.
