A kindergarten graduation ceremony in West Memphis, Arkansas, erupted into a physical altercation this week, prompting school officials to denounce the conduct of several parents and to involve local law enforcement.
The incident occurred Wednesday at Faulk Elementary School during what was intended to be a celebration for young students.
Video obtained by WREG shows multiple adults engaged in a physical fight inside the school’s hallway as children screamed and cried nearby.

Witnesses reported that several men and women were involved in the altercation, which caused panic among other parents and students in attendance.
In the footage, two men initially appear to intervene in the scuffle, but they quickly begin throwing punches themselves.
Parents were seen rushing to shield their children and remove them from the chaotic scene.
While the cause of the altercation has not been publicly disclosed, the fight was eventually broken up by bystanders.

No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at Faulk Elementary School, located just eight miles west of Memphis, Tennessee.
Authorities confirmed that no arrests were made on the day of the event.
However, the West Memphis School District has since identified five individuals involved in the incident and turned their names over to the West Memphis Police Department.
Superintendent Eric Foister addressed the situation in statements to Fox 13 Memphis, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident and the school district’s policy on maintaining safety and discipline on campus.
“We have our own camera system with sound,” Foister said. “So we have gathered all that. Obviously, we are a small community, so we have the names.”
The West Memphis School District released a formal statement affirming its “zero tolerance” policy and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.
“The safety and security of our students, staff, and school campuses remain our top priority,” the statement read.
“We have zero tolerance for any behavior by parents, students, staff, or visitors that disrupts the learning environment or threatens the well-being of anyone on school grounds.”
Foister also stated that the five adults identified in the brawl have been banned from entering school property.
However, he noted that parents would still be allowed to drop off and pick up their children. “I don’t want to punish the child for the parents’ action,” he said.
In addition to banning those involved, Foister confirmed that charges are being pursued.
“You come into our buildings and you put the safety and well-being of our students and staff in jeopardy, I’m going to hold you to the fullest accountability,” Foister said.
“I am working with our local law enforcement, and I’m going to press any and all charges that I can.”
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community.
One resident interviewed by local media expressed concern over the example set for the children and urged legal action.
“It shouldn’t be happening around children, especially, and these are grown folks at a kids’ graduation. It shouldn’t be happening at all,” the woman said.
“All of them need to be held accountable for it. Everybody who’s involved. That’s what I think about it.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed what charges, if any, will be filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
