‘Breaking Bad’ Creator Teases Mysterious New Apple TV Project

Apple TV+ is teasing the new project from the creator of “Breaking Bad” with several social media posts Tuesday.

The thus-far nameless show is the result of Apple TV’s 2022 contract with Vince Gilligan, also the creator of “Better Call Saul,” after Gilligan initially pitched the show to Sony Pictures Television.

Apple TV posted a graphic Tuesday afternoon on its X account to tease the release, saying only “Happiness is Contagious” with a yellow graphic that read “From the creator of Breaking Bad.”

The company also posted a live streamed countdown on its YouTube channel, also with the title “Happiness is Contagious,” counting down to 3 p.m. Friday.

While not much else is known about the premise of the show, it will star Rhea Seehorn, who worked with Gilligan on “Better Call Saul.”

The new series is reportedly set in present-day Albuquerque, much like his other shows, and contains “no crime, and no methamphetamine,” Gilligan said.

“The world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different,” Gilligan said in 2023. “And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.” (RELATED: The Conclusion of ‘Better Call Saul’ Proves It’s The Best Television Series Of All Time)

The show, which reportedly began filming in 2023, received a two-season contract with Apple TV.

“I have no prediction as to how folks will react to it — whether they’ll love it or hate it, or somewhere in the vast in-between,” Gilligan said. “But I know it’s a story that interests me.”
