Byron Donalds Lists Reasons He Won’t Debate Democrats About ICE

Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds on Monday dismissed calls to debate Democrats over immigration enforcement and protest tactics, particularly because leftist protestors doxxed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

During a segment on “The Evening Edit,” host Elizabeth MacDonald asked whether Democrats would enforce state laws that bar protesters from wearing masks during riots and demonstrations. Donalds rejected the idea outright, saying he has no interest in engaging Democrats on the issue.

“They [Democrats] are foolish. They’ve been reckless with the security of the American people,” Donalds told MacDonald. “They’ve been reckless with, frankly, the safety and security of these officers and their families. It is true that these organized protests from the Democratic left were doxxing officers.”

Donalds said Democrats failed to secure the border. He said they also put public safety at risk.

“I’m not negotiating with them. I’m not interested. They’ve not secured the country. They’ve not done what’s right on behalf of the American people. They had a deal two weeks ago. They need to follow that deal so we can move forward,” Donalds said.

Senate Democrats have tied Department of Homeland Security funding negotiations to a series of immigration enforcement reforms. They include banning ICE agents from wearing face coverings to conceal their identities, mandating visible ID, and equipping agents with body cameras to increase transparency.

California lawmakers and members of Congress have similarly pushed legislation aimed at prohibiting federal agents from hiding their faces during enforcement operations. Republicans argue that agents use masks to protect themselves and their families from doxxing and retaliatory threats. The left-wing media has doxxed ICE agents before. In an incident last month, progressive outlet Status Coup News livestreamed what users said were documents that showed personal details of ICE and FBI agents following federal enforcement actions in Minneapolis.

The livestream displayed names, phone numbers and agency information allegedly taken from a federal vehicle, prompting concerns about safety and privacy for law enforcement. Federal authorities and lawmakers warned that publicly revealing ICE personnel information endangers officers and their families and can lead to legal consequences.
