The march on “misinformation” continued as Sam Harris faulted Joe Rogan and others for their roles in making society “as politically shattered as it is.”
Coinciding with President Donald Trump’s prominence in politics, leftists have remained unceasing in their efforts to control narratives and remain arbiters of information through a select expert class. Recently, neuroscientist and prominent atheist Sam Harris heaped onto that position as he took aim at Rogan and peers like Tucker Carlson and Lex Friedman for exercising free speech.
“Joe is a genuinely good guy who wants good things for people, but he is honestly in over his head on so many topics of great consequence, right?” contended Harris at one point on his “Making Sense” podcast. “When he brings someone on to just shoot the sh*t about how the Holocaust is not what you think it was, right, and maybe Churchill’s the bad guy in World War II, or he’s got Dave Smith being treated as an expert on Israel and Palestine and the history of that conflict and the moral emergency that came to the world’s attention on October 7, and what is appropriate to think in the aftermath of all of that, right?”

Taking another shot at libertarian comedian Smith, Harris continued, “You know, he’s a pure misinformation artist and, you know, on top of many others, um, and when Joe talks to someone like Trump or Tucker Carlson, or, you know, any of these other guys who, who lie as freely as they breathe and doesn’t push back against any of their lies — in fact, in Trump’s case really fairly energetically helped put his lies into the most plausible possible shape.”
“It is irresponsible. I mean, it is directly harmful. Our society is as politically shattered as it is in part because of how Joe has interacted with information. Again, I don’t think this is, I think a lot of this is inadvertent or maybe all of it’s inadvertent, but it’s also avoidable, right?” he added.
Lamenting that podcasters had gone on to conduct interviews with the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kanye West, Harris argued for “experts,” in this case journalists, to be employed by Rogan to fact-check him during his program.
“I mean, it’s like, again, Joe’s got effectively Holocaust deniers on his podcast at a moment where antisemitism has become more consequential than, globally speaking, that it has been since the Holocaust, right? I mean, that’s his contribution to this moment,” Harris added.

The pundit’s comments came as the Democratic Party, which attempted to advance a Disinformation Governance Board — what many considered a Ministry of Truth — during the Biden Administration, were launching their “People’s Cabinet” comprised of unelected “experts” to counter efforts from the Trump administration and, according to widespread opinion, ostensibly strive for a “shadow government.”
Among those pushing back on Harris for challenging free speech on podcasts, considered highly influential in securing Trump’s election victory in November, as his campaign made a circuit of some of the most popular programs, including securing an endorsement from Rogan, Smith took a shot at the advantages the atheist had in his career.
“Sam’s correct. The only reason that anybody even knows who I am is because of Joe Rogan. I should have earned it the old-fashioned way: by having my mother create the Golden Girls. F*cking clown,” he reacted on X as Elon Musk, once friends with Harris, decried, “Sam Harris has lost all credibility.”

Harris has zero credibility left. He has become a laughingstock.

Every time Sam utters the word “right” you can be sure he’s just said something very, very wrong.

He doesn’t even lay out an argument. He just talks about how the people he disagrees with are not to be believed. Not to be believed about about? Where is the misinformation?
