Of course, this happened in hockey, and of course, it happened in Russia.
A KHL hockey player was bitten by a police dog Thursday during a ceremonial puck drop prior to a game between CSKA Moscow — the modern successor to the legendary Red Army team that famously faced off against NHL clubs during the Cold War — and Dinamo Minsk.
The ceremonial faceoff was performed by a female police officer wearing an extremely oversized protective helmet, being joined by her K9 partner. (RELATED: Florida Panthers’ Eetu Luostarinen Out Of Action Due To ‘Barbecuing Mishap’)
This tradition is hardly new, but while the puck drop itself, which was between CSKA Moscow’s Pavel Karnaukhov and Dinamo Minsk’s Andrei Stas, went smoothly, things descended into chaos the moment Stas reached down to give the police dog a friendly pat.
Yeah, our furry friend wasn’t playing that … you can watch the video of the wild scene here.
A cute dog coming out to drop the puck went from 0-100 too quick 💀

Like soccer, I love paying attention to hockey all across the world. I’ve gotten quite into the sport thanks to the back-to-back championship run from my Florida Panthers. With that being said, I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff that happens in Russian hockey these past couple of years, so it isn’t exactly shocking that something like this happened.
Plus, those people are goofies by nature.
