Football, it just means more. And don’t take it from me, take it from Fox 32 in Chicago.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills squared off Sunday in a matchup of juggernauts, and in what turned out to be a 13-12 defensive slug-fest, the Eagles would walk away from Highmark Stadium as the victors. Well, during the game, portions of Illinois were dealing with severe weather, which included tornado alerts. During a warning, Chicago’s Fox 32 decided to bring on Chief Meteorologist Emily Wahls via audio, doing so with a radar of a potential twister about to erupt. But the local television station didn’t move how others do, which would be cutting off the football game completely to get everybody’s attention for the tornado warning. Oh, no! Not in 2025-almost-2026!
They made the decision to actually split the screen between the Eagles-Bills game and the warning, with the game hilariously being bigger.

Honestly, I thought it was pretty cool as someone who loves both sports and weather. Other outlets should take note. Just make sure that you ignore this next part, however, because here’s where Fox 32 screwed up.
When the Eagles-Bills game went to commercial, so did Fox 32, right in the middle of a possible tornado. Because, you know, you can’t miss an opportunity to make a nickel! Though, they did keep the radar up despite taking away the audio, but I have to ask: how many people know how to read a weather radar? (Hell, I had to teach myself, and I can tell you, it was tough to pick up at first)
“Can you guys let me know, do we need to go to this commercial? Okay, so, we’re going to take the commercial, and we’ll be right back,” said Wahls.
While the Eagles-Bills game audio was taken away due to the Fox 32 (Chicago) meteorologist, the commercial audio won out.

Look, I’m all for people getting their money in this economy, you gotta do what you gotta do, but in the middle of a tornado warning…?
