NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on “The Chris Cuomo Project” Thursday condemned X CEO Elon Musk for his comments following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Musk posted “The Left is the party of murder” on X on Wednesday after Kirk was shot while speaking to a large audience of students at Utah Valley University (UVU). During a rant on his podcast about how destructive social media is, Cuomo argued Musk was devoid of morals and value, saying he would not “be surprised” if the X CEO was killed.

“[He’s] the stupidest genius I’ve ever been around. And no, I’m not going to excuse it because he’s autistic. I have a lot of autistic people in my life,” Cuomo said. “They are not all morally bankrupt, ok? They don’t all say the stupidest thing at the worst time. I don’t know what it’s about with him. And I don’t give a shit to be honest. He has, in my opinion, exhausted his usefulness.”
“Now, does that mean he should be murdered? No, because that’s not how I see the value of human life,” he continued. “But would I be surprised? No. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s me. I mean, that’s where we are. It’s who we are. That’s who we are.”
Musk responded to Cuomo’s comments on X Friday morning.
“By implying that I might be murdered by the radical left, Cuomo is exactly proving my point!” Musk wrote.
Musk also told popular podcast host Joe Rogan on “The Joe Rogan Experience” in February that he was concerned corporate media’s coverage of him might incite violence.
Musk was leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Donald Trump at the time. At his first cabinet meeting, he reported receiving numerous death threats amid backlash to his leadership of DOGE, which had aggressively cut federal spending.
“At this point, I think I’m at the top of the list for a lot of homicidal maniacs,” Musk told Rogan. “They’re doing the same thing to me that they did to Trump, which is that they’re making it sound like if you kill me, you’re a hero.”
Moreover, data published in April by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) found “48% and 55%” of “left of center” people “at least somewhat justifying murder for Elon Musk and President Trump, respectively.”
