I met Bill some years ago, early one December. We were setting up in the church hall for some seminars, and he was helping. The hall was already decorated for Christmas, and it looked like there was to be a children’s event. As we were setting up some equipment, I said to him, commenting on the decorations, ‘They say Christmas is for children.’ Bill replied with some force, ‘No, it’s not, it’s for older people! Look at Luke 1 and 2 – it’s all older people. And anyway, I was converted at Christmas.’ He proceeded to tell me his story.
