The House Oversight Committee released the full tape of former President Bill Clinton’s deposition on Jeffrey Epstein, and suffice it to say that it was enlightening.
Clinton was made to answer for how he could have flown on dozens of flights with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, been accompanied on those trips by young women, and yet supposedly had no suspicions about the dark reason behind why those young women were present.
The former president kept going back to the same excuse: He thought they were flight attendants.
“I never saw anybody do anything wrong,” he said during his deposition. “I thought they were flight attendants.”
One congressman, referencing a photo released in the Epstein files of Clinton posing on a plane with a young blonde woman wearing a tank top and jeans (with her practically sitting on the former president’s lap), responded to Clinton by asking, “Do flight attendants typically wear tank tops and jeans?”
To this, Clinton responded that flight attendants on private planes don’t need to wear uniforms.

When Clinton was further asked if he thought it was creepy that all of these young women were surrounding Epstein, he said, “There weren’t all that many around when I was there.”
When prompted what he meant by “all that many,” Clinton said, “I think on this big plane that was working long hours, having two to four people on there, I thought, was, as far as I knew, they were helping.”
During another portion of the deposition, when Clinton was asked if he had any recollection of who the women listed on the flight logs with him were, he said, “No. May have been a flight attendant, I don’t know.”
These “flight attendants” were not just on the plane with Clinton. They also participated in activities on the ground, such as swimming at a hotel in Brunei.
Clinton was asked about the photos of himself in a hot tub and pool with Ghislaine Maxwell and unidentified young women whose faces are blacked out in the Epstein files.

He said of the young woman swimming in the pool with him, “I don’t know who that is.”
Clinton then clarified that everyone at the pool was part of his traveling party. “I think everybody there was part of our party,” he said.
And yet, when Clinton was asked, “Mr. President, with the benefit of hindsight, were there things you witnessed that could have suggested that Epstein was trafficking and sexually abusing young women and girls?” Clinton simply responded, “I do not believe so.”
Clinton was also made to answer for the massage that he received from Chauntae Davies, who later went on to accuse Epstein of sexually abusing her for years. Clinton was photographed being massaged by Davies, who later said it was consensual. Clinton likewise referred to Davies as “one of his flight attendants.”
Clinton was asked if the abuse Davies suffered “make[s] you think about the massage you received from her differently.” At this point, Clinton’s lawyers intervened, attempting to end the line of questioning, but Clinton responded, “She wants to know if I feel bad about it. Yes.”
The former president then said that he found there to be nothing “unusual” in being offered a free massage from a young woman traveling in Epstein’s entourage.
“I wish Chauntae had told me [about the abuse]. I liked her,” he said. “But I didn’t think it was anything unusual. I can’t tell you how many airplanes I’ve been on where rich people asked me to go and they had someone offering massage.”
Bill Clinton traveled with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell on numerous world-crossing trips. In one trip, they traveled to Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei. In another, they traveled to Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Mozambique, and South Africa. They also went to Morocco to attend the king of Morocco’s wedding. On a further trip, they went to Belgium, Norway, and Russia. On these trips, Clinton spent significant time socializing with Epstein and Maxwell, some of which is documented in photographs released in the Epstein files.
Yet Clinton wants us to believe that, despite all of this, he didn’t have a friendship with Epstein. It was just a cordial and friendly professional relationship. He asks us to accept that it’s possible to travel around the world for weeks with someone and remain completely unaware that that person is deeply entrenched in trafficking and sexually abusing women and girls.
Clinton’s excuse, that he thought all these young women who surrounded Epstein were just his flight attendants, may keep him out of trouble for now, but it will not do much to answer the question of how on earth the former president could not have known.
