President Donald Trump marked the 100th day of his second term with a rally in Michigan on Tuesday, using the occasion to highlight what he described as key accomplishments by his administration while also bringing an unexpected guest to the stage: CNN political commentator Scott Jennings.
Speaking to a large crowd gathered just outside Detroit, President Trump praised Jennings for defending him during appearances on CNN, joking that the network’s constraints prevent Jennings from fully expressing support.
“You know, we have a man here that I don’t know, but he’s defending me all the time on CNN, and he defends me really well. But he can’t go too far because if he goes too far he’ll get fired,” Trump said, prompting laughter from the crowd.
“I said, ‘You’re amazing. You can take it right to the edge.’ And he really does a good job.”

Trump continued, “He’s not allowed to go any further. He would be off. You know, if he really went totally crazy — what you’d like to do — but I think he’s terrific. Scott Jennings. Where are you Scott? Come here Scott! This guy, really, I’ve watched him for years. I don’t know, but he likes Trump.”
The crowd responded with cheers as Jennings made his way to the stage. Trump then added, “Oh, CNN, this is the end of Scott. Oh, who cares? Don’t worry. We’ll take care of you, Scott. Scott Jennings — really great!”
Jennings briefly addressed the audience, mixing humor with political commentary.

“Michigan! We were flying in here today and I said, ‘Look at these farms. I got to get a farm in Michigan because when you own as many libs as I do you got to put a place to put them all. Thank you all very much!” Jennings said, drawing applause and laughter.
The moment followed comments Jennings made a day earlier on CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” where he described immigration as Trump’s “best issue,” even amid polling data that showed 54% of respondents disapproved of the administration’s handling of the topic.
Following Jennings’ remarks, Trump resumed his speech by thanking other supporters and reiterating the achievements he said his administration has delivered since retaking office.
Among the policies highlighted during the rally were the administration’s southern border shutdown, efforts to increase deportations of illegal immigrants, the pursuit of new trade agreements, and continued economic and energy initiatives.
Trump repeated his administration’s commitment to restoring border enforcement and cracking down on transnational crime, themes that have remained central throughout both of his presidential terms.
The event marked the president’s return to the campaign-style rally format that helped define his earlier political efforts, with large crowds and extended speeches focused on both domestic accomplishments and critiques of Democratic opposition.
Tuesday’s rally was one of several planned stops in key battleground states as Trump continues to push his second-term agenda and prepare for upcoming legislative battles with Congress.
