Coco Gauff Makes Massive Change Only Days Prior To US Open: REPORT

Interesting move.

Prior to the kickoff of the New York-based 2025 U.S. Open, American women’s tennis superstar Coco Gauff is making a massive change.

According to a report from Bounces, Gauff has fired one of her coaches, Matt Daly, and has decided to bring in biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan.

“Only have good things to say about Coco, enjoyed working with her,” Daly told the outlet in confirmation of him and Gauff parting ways.

So, you may be asking yourself: Why would she make this major switch prior to the last Grand Slam of 2025? (RELATED: MLB Reportedly Set To Make Ton Of Bad Business Deals With Television Rights)

Well, it looks like it has to do with her serving game.

Since suffering an early first-round exit from Wimbledon, Gauff has been struggling to serve, which is a huge element in the game of tennis when it comes to beating the best competition there is. And this is especially the case when it comes to events such as the U.S. Open.

On his resume, MacMillan is credited with fixing up one of the top serves in the world, as the No. 1-ranked Aryna Sabalenka saw her serve corrected after working with him.

MacMillan was seen Wednesday morning on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court while Gauff was hitting the ball with Elina Svitolina.

“A lot of things add up, and this could be a really good relationship,” said Darren Cahill of ESPN while speaking to Forbes regarding Gauff and MacMillan, per Yahoo Sports. “He’s very thorough.… I’ve spoken to him many, many times before, and the fact that he’s got experience with different athletes from different sports, both male and female, he uses the new technology, he goes to the video a lot, really breaks down the biomechanics.”

If Coco Gauff ends up winning the U.S. Open after this, or at least makes a far run, kudos to Gavin MacMillan … epic stuff.
