Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Dublin on Saturday to protest Ireland’s mass migration policies, voicing widespread concerns about the country’s changing demographics and government policies.

Some estimates suggested that the turnout may have reached into the hundreds of thousands.

UFC champion Conor McGregor, a vocal critic of Ireland’s current immigration policies, posted a video message ahead of the demonstration, encouraging Irish citizens to unite peacefully.

McGregor, who has publicly discussed the possibility of a presidential bid, recorded his remarks from the Garden of Remembrance, where the march officially began.

“Hello everyone in Ireland. April 26th, 2025 – A big day here for our country. A historic month for Ireland since 1916,” McGregor said, referencing the anniversary of the Easter Rising against British rule.

“Over 100 years ago, our brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live free today. So let us remind ourselves why we are here. And also why we are not here,” McGregor continued.

“We are not here to build hatred amongst each other. We are not here to sow division. We are here to commemorate the valiant heroes who went before us. We honor their spirit, we honor their fight.”

McGregor stressed the purpose of the demonstration, stating that the protest aimed “to shine our light on the failure of Ireland’s government and our full disapproval of it.”

“Be respectful, be proud, be united,” McGregor urged.

“Because together, we will be heard, and as one, we will be victorious in our mission. To those leading their march and speaking for the tens of thousands standing behind you: be calm, be clear.”

He added, “Speak with dignity – we want to hear your voice. Together we rise, together we win. God bless us all. God bless Ireland.”

Protesters assembled in the Garden of Remembrance early Saturday afternoon before heading down O’Connell Street, many waving tri-color Irish flags.

Large signs with messages such as “Ireland is Full” and “Irish Lives Matter” were prominently displayed throughout the demonstration. Numerous participants wore green hats reading “Make Ireland Great Again.”

The Irish police, known as gardaí, maintained a visible presence during the event, establishing a cordon to separate protesters from a smaller group of counter-protesters stationed near the General Post Office (GPO). Authorities reported no major disturbances during the event.

McGregor later shared aerial photos of the crowd on X, stating, “Over 106,000 Irish men, women and children attended yesterday’s rally. Not one social order incident to report. Tremendous! Onward for Ireland!”

The scale of Saturday’s demonstration reflected growing public dissatisfaction with Ireland’s migration policies, a topic that has increasingly dominated national debate.

Protesters cited concerns about government transparency, resource strain, and cultural preservation as key issues driving the movement.

With citizens turning out in such large numbers, attention now turns to whether Ireland’s political leaders will respond to the calls for change expressed by the demonstrators.
