Constituents complain newly ordained preacher AOC shrugs as young women are sex trafficked in her district

While New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) warned of “consequences” for those opposing her radical ideologies, her own constituents decried her alleged absence in addressing sex trafficking.

“Our community is suffering.”

Amid speculation that the congressional squad member could be seeking higher office in the near future, the unaddressed issues of those she’d been elected to represent loomed large. This included the victimization of women as part of the ongoing prostitution in Ocasio-Cortez’s district’s infamous “Market of Sweethearts,” which was allegedly outside her purview.

“I have not personally seen Ocasio-Cortez since she’s been elected. I have not seen her in the community. I have seen her in a parade — that’s it,” Restore Roosevelt Avenue Coalition President Rosa Sanchez told the New York Post as the illicit vending in the open air market in Queens continued despite police efforts. “You have young women held against their will. They’re being sex trafficked. This is not normal. Our community is suffering.”

Similarly, Neighbors of the American Triangle leader Mauricio Zamora told the post that Ocasio-Cortez has “never” been helpful on the big problems of locals. He said he met with her and she claimed those issues should be addressed by city officials, contrary to the actions taken by New York Rep. Ritchie Torres (D) in his Bronx district.

In pointing the newspaper to a recent post from the congresswoman where she had a photo op with locals in Corona Plaza, the lawmaker’s spokeswoman, Karla Santillan, argued, “The congresswoman is focused on solutions, not credit. She has done multiple cleanups of the plaza on the other side, and on the official side, has worked with DOT to fix street lights and improve sanitation.”

Meanwhile, mere months after touring the country with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) as part of a supposed fight against oligarchy, while authorities were busting a brothel near a school in her district, Ocasio-Cortez was near the old stomping grounds of the former mayor of Burlington, Vermont as she threatened “consequences” for those who opposed her radical touchstones during an event in Plattsburgh, New York.

“There are consequences to fighting and taking away people’s healthcare. There are consequences, consequences, to voting against a living wage. There are consequences to ripping up law-abiding, dutiful, undocumented people from their country. There are consequences. There are consequences for fighting against LGBT rights. There are consequences for taking away our right to choose,” she said from behind a podium that read “A Better World Is Possible” in what was received as “insane threatening” of Republicans.

Local pharmacist Jenny Leo also attested to never seeing the congresswoman as she remarked to the Post that efforts by the police as part of Operation Restore Roosevelt had found the area “not getting worse, but it’s not getting better either.”

Additionally, former Councilman Hiram Monserrate (D) further spoke out against the alleged absence of Ocasio-Cortez on the clear and present dangers to the community, stating, “We want our Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to use her platform to bring in more police officers to stabilize the area. We want our community back.”

The backlash continued on social media as the lawmaker was called out for the tone as well as the delivery, as she appeared to replicate a “preacher sermon voice”
