Cops, Others Flood Pull Off Hysterical April Fools’ Jokes

Police and public agencies swapped their serious tone for clever pranks on April Fools’ Day, making some internet users do double-takes.

From mock “new policies” to tongue-in-cheek warnings about absurd infractions, officers leaned into the jokes, showing a lighter side that rarely shines through in their official reports. The April Fools’ posts were cleverly crafted and blurred the line between believable and ridiculous just enough to be entertaining.

Aaron Brilbeck from The Oklahoma Co. Sheriff’s office leaned into the stereotype by unveiling a “new program” that began by sounding quite formal and authentic. In a message designed to educate the public on “how to use technology to better serve you,” the department shared fake news about a new program called “ACAB” short for aerial controlled appetite blocker.

The program turned out to be a drone donut delivery for “hard working” police officers. The video showed officers chowing down on the donuts during a roadside arrest, and poked fun at the police.

“In an effort to increase the amount of time Deputies are spending on patrol and reduce cost to taxpayers, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is unveiling its new ACAB Program,” they wrote in the caption.

As part of preparations for America’s 250th anniversary, Interior is reviewing wildlife nomenclature to better reflect the nation’s history and character.

The US Department of the Interior had a fun time featuring an image of a raccoon alongside the caption, “As part of preparations for America’s 250th anniversary, Interior is reviewing wildlife nomenclature to better reflect the nation’s history and character.”

They continued, “Following this review, the raccoon (Procyon lotor) will be renamed the Liberty Bandit, effective April 1, 2026.”

The Oklahoma police seemed to have a lot of time on their hands on Wednesday. The Oklahoma City Police issued a statement on their official X page introducing some very special powers.

They shared an image of a transparent police vehicle in front of the precinct alongside the message, “Introducing Operation C.L.O.A.K.
