Cops Say Alleged Crack Dealer’s Parrot Blew Bird-Brained Operation Wide Open

An alleged crack dealer’s pet parrot helped police take down a United Kingdom drug ring, leading to the arrests of 15 people.

Police say the leading gang member, 35-year-old Adam Garnett, was serving a 15-year jail sentence when authorities seized several of his cell phones, according to a Monday press release from the Lancashire Constabulary.

Police discovered that his girlfriend, 29-year-old Shannon Hilton, was allegedly one of Garnett’s second in command members, the release stated. They searched her phone and found video footage of a parrot that led to the drug ring being dismantled.

Video footage found by cops allegedly showed Hilton teaching the bird to say “two for 25!” — which police say was code for the price of drugs, according to the New York Post. Additionally, police found videos of the parrot playing with money that obtained illegally, according to the press release. “It was discovered that Garnett, as the leading member, and despite being in prison, was involved in the orchestration of moving evidence so that police could not find it and had communication channels with practically all the members of the organized crime group he controlled,” the Lancashire Constabulary stated.

Police seized heroin, crack cocaine, ketamine, cannabis and mobile phones, which were matched to the defendants using forensic testing, according to the press release.

The authorities arrested and charged 15 people allegedly connected to the drug ring based in Blackpool, England.

Garnett was charged with two counts of conspiring to supply class-A drugs, and he was sentenced to 19 years and six months in addition to his current sentence, according to police.

Hilton faced the same charges, along with possession with intent to supply class-B drugs. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison, the press release noted.

All of the defendants pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court, according to police.
