Documents obtained by the outlet show that a person identified as Mike King received payments from Crockett for “security services” as recently as last year.
Additional information reported by CBS News Texas raised questions about King’s identity and background.
Multiple law enforcement sources told the outlet that the man publicly known as Mike King had been operating under aliases while running a business that arranged off-duty security jobs for police officers.
According to those sources, he operated a company called Off Duty Police Services, which functioned as an online platform intended to connect North Texas law enforcement officers with off-duty employment opportunities.
Authorities told CBS News Texas that King was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer and had claimed to be one while running the business.
Law enforcement sources also told the outlet that the man drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates that had been stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office.
