In response to a question from Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Alex Burghart, Jones said:
“I was informed of this decision after the Prime Minister and I should also inform the house that I look forward to answering more questions before the joint committee on the national security strategy on Wednesday next week.”
This is despite the fact that Jones is not only Chief Secretary to the PM, but also sits on the National Security Council and has oversight of the National Security Secretariat in the Cabinet Office. No doubt the exact timing of what he knew when will come up next week…
