Internal conflict is growing within the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as party officials prepare to confront Vice Chair David Hogg over his ongoing efforts to fund primary challenges against sitting Democrat lawmakers.
The DNC is expected to issue Hogg an ultimatum later this week, amid intensifying backlash from senior party members and elected officials.
Hogg, 25, was elected DNC Vice Chair in February, despite having no background in electoral politics or campaign management.

Shortly after assuming the post, Hogg launched a plan to funnel millions into Democratic primary contests targeting party incumbents in safe districts through his organization, Leaders We Deserve. His stated goal is to replace established Democrats with younger, more progressive challengers.
According to a report from NOTUS, DNC Co-Chair Ken Martin is expected to deliver a formal proposal during a scheduled Thursday call with committee members.
The proposal includes an ultimatum requiring Hogg to remain neutral in the primaries or resign his role as Vice Chair.
Party officials say the move is necessary to preserve the DNC’s institutional neutrality and ability to focus on defeating President Donald Trump and Republican candidates in the general election.

“A campaign that threatens the DNC’s neutrality and its capacity to fight back against President Donald Trump is unacceptable,” one senior Democrat told NOTUS.
Hogg’s campaign strategy — which includes a planned $20 million investment during primary season — has sparked open opposition from top Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Over the weekend, Jeffries publicly rejected Hogg’s initiative and reiterated his support for incumbent Democrats facing potential challenges from the left.

Hogg’s critics within the DNC argue that his organization’s efforts are destabilizing at a time when the party is focused on regaining power and defending vulnerable seats in 2026.
Some committee members have floated the possibility of changing DNC rules to force Hogg out if he refuses to step down voluntarily.
Tensions between Hogg and DNC leadership have been building for weeks, but reached a boiling point following Hogg’s recent public remarks vowing to unseat Democratic incumbents who, in his view, are out of touch with younger voters.
The comments were viewed by many within the party as divisive and poorly timed given ongoing challenges heading into the next election cycle.
According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, DNC insiders believe Hogg is likely to step down rather than abandon his outside political group.
“It’s clear that he’s more committed to his personal brand and his PAC than to the role of DNC Vice Chair,” said one member of the committee.
The upcoming Thursday conference call is expected to serve as a pivotal moment in the dispute.
Party officials may use the call to publicly express grievances about Hogg’s handling of the situation and to push for a resolution before the controversy causes further damage.
Hogg has not issued a public statement in response to the expected ultimatum. Leaders We Deserve has also not commented on whether it will pause its planned spending or adjust its campaign targeting strategy.
The situation underscores a growing generational and ideological divide within the Democratic Party, as younger progressive activists increasingly challenge the influence of long-standing incumbents and party leadership.
