Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett Criticizes AOC and Sanders Over ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ Tour [WATCH]

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, has privately criticized her progressive colleagues Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., accusing them of using their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour to elevate their personal brands rather than support broader Democratic objectives, as reported by Fox News.

The comments surfaced in a recent profile published by The Atlantic, which detailed Crockett’s political maneuvering earlier this year as she considered a bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

According to the report, during a private meeting in May with Rep. Maxine Dexter, D-Ore., Crockett was asked about her relationship with Ocasio-Cortez.

Dexter had raised concerns about Crockett potentially clashing with Democratic leadership, similar to tensions Ocasio-Cortez experienced after arriving in Congress.

In response, Crockett attempted to distance herself from Ocasio-Cortez’s approach. “I’m not trying to burn it down,” Crockett said, reportedly emphasizing her focus on advancing party interests rather than personal promotion.

Crockett acknowledged that the “Fighting Oligarchy Tour,” which has taken Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez across the country to rally progressive voters, was a “good idea” in theory.

However, she argued that the effort ultimately appeared self-serving. “[The tour] kind of makes people be like, ‘Oh, it’s about them, right?’ Instead of the team,” she said.

Despite her initial interest in the House Oversight Committee position, Crockett later withdrew her bid following backlash over comments she made suggesting openness to supporting a potential impeachment of President Donald Trump, a move that alarmed Democrats representing competitive districts.

Crockett, known for her combative style, has made headlines for a series of controversial remarks aimed at Republicans.

In March, she was accused of mocking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, by referring to him as “Governor Hot Wheels” during a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles.

“We in these hot a– Texas streets, honey,” Crockett said. “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a– mess, honey!”

Crockett was also involved in a public verbal exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., during a congressional hearing in May. After Greene mocked Crockett’s appearance, the Texas lawmaker responded by attacking Greene’s physical appearance.

Crockett later sold merchandise referencing the insults exchanged during the dispute.

Neither Crockett, Sanders, nor Ocasio-Cortez responded to requests for comment.
