Democrat California Rep. Robert Garcia said Friday on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” that the House Oversight Committee will obtain the deceased pedophile’s infamous birthday “book” by Sept. 8.
In July, the Wall Street Journal released a story that the outlet had allegedly obtained documents of birthday letters to Epstein from 2003, with high-profile names included. Discussing the House’s progress on pushing to release the remaining files on Epstein, Garcia told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that, in addition to hearing from numerous victims of Epstein, the committee will obtain the infamous “book” from the Epstein estate.
“This upcoming week we have actually many of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein coming to Capitol Hill. We’re meeting with them. They’re talking to lawmakers. We’re going to highlight their stories. We’ve got to center these victims,” Garcia said. “And I’ll just say one other piece of news that actually just developed in the last couple hours is we finally got word from the Epstein estate. They’re going to be providing the actual Epstein book, that famous book where that note that Donald Trump drew and doodled to Jeffrey Epstein, his so-called best friend of 10 to 15 years.”

“The Epstein estate is actually going to get us that book and a bunch of other documents that they have that’s actually not been reported yet, reported here for the first time. We’re going to get those documents as we understand it now on September 8, and so that will continue our investigation,” Garcia added. “Again we ask the question, where are the rest of the documents? What is Pam Bondi hiding? What is Donald Trump hiding? End the cover-up. Let’s get to the truth.”
Within the first report released by the WSJ, the outlet alleged the president wrote Epstein a letter in 2003 with the outline of a “naked woman” on it, an accusation Trump has denied. The letter to Epstein, which had been reviewed by the WSJ, reportedly included Trump’s alleged “bawdy” signature along with several lines of typewritten text.
The text was allegedly framed by the outline of a “naked woman,” appearing to be “hand-drawn with a heavy marker,” as Trump allegedly signed below the drawing’s waist. The letter concluded with, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret,” according to the WSJ.
Following the report’s release, Trump filed a lawsuit against billionaire Rupert Murdoch, Dow Jones & Company Inc., News Corporation and the two WSJ reporters who authored the piece. In response to the outlet’s allegations, Trump told the WSJ that it wasn’t him and called the letter a “fake thing” and the story itself fake.
Following the initial report, the WSJ further named other high profile figures who had been among those who allegedly wrote Epstein birthday letters, including former President Bill Clinton, Wall Street billionaire Leon Black, fashion designer Vera Wang, media owner Mort Zuckerman, and billionaire and former Microsoft executive Nathan Myhrvold.
Trump’s friendship with Epstein has been documented in the past, with Trump praising the deceased pedophile prior to Epstein’s first criminal charges in 2006. According to The Washington Post, Trump and Epstein split ways by 2004, reportedly rivaling over a Palm Beach property.
Questions surrounding Epstein’s case returned to the media spotlight in July, after the Department of Justice quietly released a memo stating the FBI had found no “client list” and no foul play in Epstein’s death. Republicans pushed back. Attorney General Pam Bondi vowed full transparency on the remaining “Epstein files” and the names involved in his business.
Since Trump’s calls to “produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval” regarding Epstein’s case, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche interviewed convicted sex trafficker and Epstein’s longtime partner Ghislaine Maxwell in July. On Aug. 22, the Department of Justice released the full interview, in which she said she does not remember Trump giving Epstein a birthday card.
