Democratic Senator’s Leaked Texts Actually Make Him Look Really Cool

Leaked text messages are usually intended as a reputational hit job. Sometimes it backfires.

See: Democratic Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego. In a series of text messages obtained by Human Events, Gallego laces into his own party.

Gallego (correctly) alleges that the Democrats are “not allowing no [sic] men to men” and “women to be hot.” (RELATED: Stephen Miller Says Democrats Want To Turn America ‘Into A Version Of Somalia’)

Gallego continues, “We used to be the party of sec [sic] drugs and rock and roll.”

“Now Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women.”

Gallego’s only inaccuracy is in his spelling.

A screenshot of the leaked conversation began with a message from an unidentified Republican correspondent, counseling Gallego: “… I think it’s time that somebody with a cool head and a solid plan could rise to the top of your party.”

“Oh man have you met my party ?” Gallego questions. “I have been yelling at them this the whole time.”

Composure and planning are certainly not Democratic hallmarks. The party’s brand is better associated with lawlessness and pie in the sky promises which quickly fall to earth.

To that point: The unidentified correspondent then sent Gallego a photo of Democratic Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, with the in-picture caption, “If erectile dysfunction had a face.”

“They aren’t wrong!” Gallego responded.

DeLauro, 82, is best-known for her short cut purple hair. (RELATED: Purple Haired Dem Spends Over A Minute Shrieking At Republicans Over Healthcare)

“We look like the not fun party,” Gallego continued. “Always telling and correcting people.”

Sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll are a far cry from the modern Democratic Party. Gallego is right on target. Leftism appealed to young people for decades because it was countercultural. Then leftism became the culture. Today, if you really want to stick it to the man, you’ll abstain from getting tattoos or ordering DoorDash.

Gallego responded to the leak in a conversation with ABC15’s Ben Brown.

“It’s very heartbreaking that someone that I served with and have known and been really good friends [with] for 20 years decided to … leak some of these messages. But I’ve been very clear about where I think the party needs to be, I think we have to be an open and bigger tent party, and so this is just a reflection of everything I’ve said.”

At least he didn’t apologize. But if Gallego wants to make Democrats cool again, he could start by being a little less sheepish about some innocuous jokes.
