Devastating 911 Audio Seems To Capture Tragic Moments Before Marshawn Kneeland’s Death

Shocking 911 audio released Thursday appears to capture the chaotic moments after Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend and the NFL tried to save the Dallas Cowboys defensive end’s life.

In the unofficial recordings, obtained by TMZ, Texas dispatchers relay a frantic call from Kneeland’s girlfriend after she received a disturbing message from him Wednesday night. She told operators the Cowboys rookie had appeared to have said goodbye to his family during what she feared was a mental health crisis. (RELATED: Dallas Cowboys Player Marshawn Kneeland Dead At 24)

Dispatchers can be heard noting her report that Kneeland was armed, struggled with prior mental health issues and had threatened to “end it all.”

Dispatchers said Kneeland’s girlfriend was trying to reach his agent and that the NFL had also contacted Plano police to report that a player was “texting his family goodbye,” according to the audio published by TMZ. Moments later, dispatchers told units they were on the phone with the Dallas Cowboys.

“Everybody stay with a buddy, don’t go looking alone. This guy is armed,” a dispatcher instructed.

Frisco police said Kneeland led officers on a pursuit around 10:39 p.m. after troopers attempted to stop him for a traffic violation, according to TMZ. Officers briefly lost sight of his vehicle before finding it minutes later crashed along the Dallas Parkway, but Kneeland was gone. Early reports indicated he may have fled on foot.

Kneeland was found around 1:30 a.m. with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, TMZ reported.

Dispatch audio indicated Kneeland was found inside a portable toilet, according to the outlet.

The Dallas Cowboys issued a statement Thursday confirming he died at age 24.
