Doctors Won’t Be Able to Raise Assisted Dying With Under-18s
The Assisted Dying Bill returned to the Commons today for the second day of Report Stage, early indications suggested the Bill would sail through. The votes were as follows:
- Paul Waugh’s NC14b aiming to block ministers lifting the ban on advertising with the stroke of a pen was defeated 254 to 233.
- Meg Hillier’s NC1 to stop doctors being able to raise assisted dying with patients unprompted was defeated 256 to 230.
- Meg Hillier’s NC2 to prevent doctors from raising assisted dying with under-18s was won 259 to 216. A big loss for Leadbeater…
There are now 82 MPs who voted for or abstained at the Second Reading who have voted at least once against Kim Leadbeater. The Third Reading is due to take place next week. All eyes on the Commons next Friday…
