Donald Trump Slams Zohan Mamdani as “Communist” and “Nut Job” in Fiery Remarks [WATCH]

President Donald Trump issued a strong warning Tuesday morning about Democratic Socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohan Mamdani, calling him a “communist” and criticizing New Yorkers who would consider voting for him, as reported by The New York Post.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, President Trump said, “The last thing we need is a communist. I said, there will never be socialism in the United States. Now, we have a communist.”

Mamdani, currently a state assemblyman representing Queens, recently secured the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor after defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the party’s ranked-choice primary.

His platform includes policies such as government-run grocery stores and expanded city-managed services.

“If they go this route, I think they’re crazy,” Trump said, referring to New York voters.

“We will have a communist — for the first time, really — a pure, true Communist. He wants to operate the grocery stores, the department stores. What about the people that are there? I think it’s crazy!”

Trump also addressed Mamdani’s refusal to clearly denounce the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which Mamdani has attempted to justify as a call for “equality and equal rights” for Palestinians.

When asked about the candidate’s stance, Trump responded:

“I think he’s terrible. He’s a communist. But I think he’s bad news, and I think you’re going to have a lot of fun with him, watching him, because he has to come right through this building to get his money. And don’t worry, he’s not going to run away with anything. I think he’s, frankly, I’ve heard he’s a total nut job.”

Trump added that any attempts by Mamdani to secure federal funding for his policies will face resistance under his administration.

In an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, Trump reiterated his stance: “If he does get in, I’m going to be president, and he’s going to have to do the right thing or they’re not getting ANY money.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat and the highest-ranking Jewish lawmaker in Congress, has endorsed Mamdani despite concerns over his rhetoric and policies. In response, Trump referred to Schumer as “our great Palestinian Senator.”

The general election for New York City mayor is scheduled for November. Mamdani is expected to face Republican Curtis Sliwa, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, and attorney Jim Walden, each running on separate ballot lines.
