‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Phil Robertson Dead At 79

‘Duck Dynasty’ star and Robertson family patriarch Phil Robertson died Sunday at the age of 79, his son Jase announced via Twitter.

“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!” his son, Jase, announced Sunday evening.

Robertson made his name inventing a innovative new duck call for hunters to use in the 1970’s, leading to the success of his company Duck Commander. His family then became famous for their portrayal in the reality show Duck Dynasty, which aired in the 2010’s.

In his youth, Robertson was a standout athlete. He started at quarterback for Louisiana Tech in college for two seasons, playing ahead of NFL legend and Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw in the 1960’s.

A devout Christian, Robertson became known for his strong faith and entered the fray of politics, endorsing numerous Republican candidates in recent years, including President Donald Trump. In 2015, he spoke at CPAC and received the Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award. He remained politically active in the years that followed.

He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2024.
