DUKE: Celebrities Are Proving The Left’s Cultural Spell Is Broken

Hey y’all, welcome back to Unfit to Print!

I’m back from vacation — tanned and rested — and enjoying the latest evidence that our culture is being snatched away from the joyless libs who gave us DEI Star Wars and #MeToo.

But first, don’t forget to share this newsletter with your friends and family. If you’re one of the lucky recipients of such a fine gift, you can receive every edition of the newsletter by subscribing HERE

CULTURAL RESET

Actress Sydney Sweeney showed just how far the culture has moved in the past few years with a simple jeans ad. Libs cried “Nazi” over a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, large-breasted woman praising her “good jeans,” and sane Americans responded by sending American Eagle’s stock soaring.

Two other superstars are now boldly rejecting wokeness, and we can expect more to come.

Chris Pratt, who has starred in numerous major Hollywood films, appeared on comedian Bill Maher’s podcast this week and offered some words of wisdom for the hysterical “Never Trump” crowd.

“I’d hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d have an allergic reaction to — to be like, ‘Oh, well, if they do it, I don’t want it to happen. I’ll put Clorox in my children’s cereal myself.’ It’s like, come on, be reasonable here. There are certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful,” Pratt said.

Pratt sparked the ire of the terminally online left before — primarily by believing in God, supporting police officers, and wearing a T-shirt with a Gadsden flag on it. But his career continued to soar even after complaints about his religious and supposedly right-wing-coded acceptance speeches and Instagram posts.

Now he’s being even clearer about his refusal to bend the knee to the left-wing mob, and the backlash is notably muted compared to his last go-around.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson also dipped his toes into the water Sunday by retweeting a pro-Jesus post from conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. “It’s all about Jesus,” the tweet said. Critics who complained in the replies were ratioed by Jackson and Kirk’s fans.

It’s also not Jackson’s first rodeo; he took heat in 2021 by refusing to answer questions about whether he had been vaccinated for COVID-19, telling reporters that the decision was between him, his family, and his doctors.

The most important through line between these three pop culture figures is that they have refused to capitulate or apologize for being normal. And all three have been just fine.

They are setting an example for other celebrities of their stature: it is okay to be famous and not be a raging leftist. It may not seem like much, but in a sea of keffiyeh-wearing, trans pride flag-toting stars, this is an important sign that the left’s cultural capture is very, very fragile right now.
