It turns out it’s not just the pen-pushers over at Ofgem who love a jaunt abroad. Guido can reveal civil servants at the Environment Agency have jumped on hundreds of international flights in the last two years. The quango that works to ‘protect the environment’…at home…

From April 2023 to March 2025, pen-pushers took 370 flights, according to an FOI by the Taxpayers’ Alliance seen by Guido. Seventeen were business class. Destinations include exotic hotspots Portugal, Greenland, Italy, Poland, Puerto Rico, Japan, Spain, Canada, US, Albania, Finland and Norway. Guido’s fairly certain jetting off to Tokyo and Toronto isn’t part of the brief for managing floods and muck in Britain…

The total bill – courtesy of the taxpayer – was £161,575. Not thinking about the environment, or the taxpayer, here…
